Stands for "Foreign Exchange". Usually refers to the foreign exchange market, which deals in trading foreign currencies.
When one speaks of a forex profit or loss, he is talking about the increased or decreased value of an investment caused solely by currency movements

Fixing - Finding the exchange rate that balances buyers with sellers, and that occurs either daily at specified times.
Flexible Exchange Rate - Exchange rate fixed against one or more currencies.
Floating Exchange Rate - An exchange rate where the value is determined by the market. Also known as a dirty float when changed frequently.
Foreign Exchange (Forex) - The buying or selling of one currency against the sale or purchase of another currency.
FX - Foreign Exchange (Forex).
G5 - The five leading industrial countries - US, UK, Germany, Japan and France.
G7 - The seven leading industrial countries - US, UK, Canada, Germany, Japan, France and Italy.
G10 - The G7 countries plus Belgium, Netherlands and Sweden.
HIBOR - Hong Kong Inter-Bank Offered Rate.
Kiwi - A term used for the New Zealand Dollar (NZD).
LIBOR - London Inter-Bank Offered Rate.
M0 - Cash in circulation, only used by the United Kingdom.
M1 - Cash in circulation plus demand deposits at commercial banks.
M2 - Cash in circulation plus demand deposits, time deposits and money market mutual funds.
M3 - M1 plus time deposits and sight deposits held by the public in the UK.
M4 - M2 plus negotiable CDs in the US.
Major Currency - Includes the Euro, D-mark, Swiss Franc, British Pound, and Japanese Yen.
Minor Currency - Includes the Canadian dollar, Australian dollar and the New Zealand dollar.
Nostro Account - A foreign currency account maintained with another bank. The account uses the currency of the country the bank is located in
Overnight Limit - Position limits on a currency that a trader carries during overnight trading hours.
Petrodollars - Foreign exchange reserves from oil sales for oil-producing countries.
PIBOR - Paris Inter-Bank Offered Rate.
Pip - 100th part of a percent (0.0001 of a unit). Minimum fluctuation or smallest increment of price movement.
Special Drawing Right (SDR_ - A standard of five major currencies in fixed amounts as defined by the International Monetary Fund.
Spot Deal - A Forex trade where one party delivers a specific currency against receiving another currency based on an agreed rate from the other party party within 2 business days.
Spot Next - An Forex trade that matures one business day past a spot deal date (or three business days total).
Sterling - A term used for the British Pound, also known as a Cable.
Stocky - A term used for the Swedish Krona.
Swap Deal - A Forex trade that consists of a simultaneous purchase and sale for different maturity dates with the same counterparty.
Swaption - An option to enter into a swap contract.
Tomorrow Next (Tom Next)- Simultaneous buying of a currency for delivery the following day and selling on the spot deal day or vice versa.
